Editing, Leadership and Team Building
I have been an editor for three years on The Herald and have helped improve the paper through editing articles, teaching lessons to the class and helping with design. Being an editor has taught me many valuable lessons as I have had to learn how to interact with other people, be patient and cooperative.
Editing Notes
Here are some notes I left on two different articles submitted by my classmates. I leave copy editing suggestions, comments on how I would improve the article and positive feedback. I don't have many examples of physical comments on people's work, as I prefer to talk my edits out with people. It feels more personal and I am able to explain myself better face to face rather than electronically.

Lessons
To get the class going, I find value in creating presentations and giving direction. Here are some lessons/lesson plans I've provided for my class.

With my co-editors, we made this presentation for the first day of class. We wanted to start building and teaching other students right at the beginning of the school year.
This was a lesson I created in order to teach my peers how to improve their writing for the magazine and/or the website.

Here is an example of a daily agenda slide that my co-editors and I projected to our class to get them going on their work for the day/week.
I made this slideshow presentation along with a fellow editor to get the class going on making Instagram posts by including examples and trying to get them to practice.

Style/Templates
Over the summer, I took it upon myself to build templates on InDesign and create a style guide that my co-editors and I have used throughout the school year. It has made designing and writing a whole lot easier to accomplish.

This is the style guide I created for the 2024-2025 school year. I wanted to make sure it was easy to follow and shares everything my peers need to know about being successful in this class.
This is a template I created for people to follow when writing sports briefs and an example of a student following the template.

Here is a PDF of three templates I've made on Adobe In Design to make designing faster and more consistent on a 14-column grid.
